Why Child Care?
The demand is high and the industry is growing
There are many reasons to consider franchising in the child care industry and specifically within the education-based child care arena. Private-sector, education-based child care facilities, like Kiddie Academy® facilities, are developed and operated efficiently. In addition to providing exceptional value to families, communities, and owners of these businesses, they also support good social policy.
Here's why:
- Today, the child care industry generates an estimated $60 billion in annual revenue, supports more than 3.7 million jobs, and directly employs more people than the public secondary school systems.
- 65% of mothers with children six years of age and under are in the labor force. More than 70% of single mothers have jobs outside the home. By 2010, it is expected that more than 85% of the labor force will consist of parents. The number of working women will exceed working men.
- There is an increasing number of single-parent families and double-income families in the United States.
- There is a rising population of highly mobile parents who are having children later in life. These parents often possess greater financial resources, which they tend to spend on early childhood education, development, and social integration.*
When you consider all of these things together, it's no surprise that parents are moving away from home-based or family-provided child care and are moving to center-based, child care. This, of course, bodes well for Kiddie Academy® and our franchisees.
