Grandparents Day – Free Downloadable
Grandparents are important to children in so many ways. If you’re lucky enough to have known your grandparents growing up, then you’re likely to agree they are the best. They ALWAYS have patience and are ready to play or offer treats. Grandparents also have the best stories to tell, and kids are a great audience.
I’m very lucky that my children have the benefits of living close to both sets of grandparents, which means my kids get a double dose of grandparent goodness all the time. (Ahem, see exhibit A. below)
To honor how important they are to our families, grandparents are celebrated each year on the first Sunday after Labor Day with a national commemoration. This year, National Grandparents Day is September 7th; however, any day is a good day to salute grandparents. From an educational standpoint, grandparents offer children a first-hand guide to your family’s history.
Kiddie Academy has created a free downloadable that includes both a family tree and a list of questions your children can ask grandparents. Both generations are likely to learn a bit by completing the activities. In addition, by recording the answers, you’ll be collecting memories to share with future generations.
