What Will Your Child Learn at Kiddie Academy® of Bel Air–James Run?
The tower tumbles. Your child pauses, chooses a bigger block for the bottom and tries again. Across the room, another child invites a friend into a pretend restaurant, takes their order and gets busy “cooking.”
These moments may look simple, but there’s a lot happening: problem-solving, communication, creativity and learning to work together.
At Kiddie Academy® of Bel Air–James Run, our educational child care programs will bring purpose to these everyday discoveries through Life Essentials®, Kiddie Academy’s proprietary curriculum. Children will build language, early math, social-emotional and physical skills through experiences designed for their age and development.
What Is the Life Essentials® Curriculum?
Life Essentials is Kiddie Academy’s approach to helping children grow as learners and as people. It connects academic learning with six key outcomes: Character, Confidence, Curiosity, Connection, Critical Thinking and Creative Expression.
Why focus on all six? Learning to recognize a letter is one step. Feeling confident enough to ask a question, having the patience to try again and being able to share an idea with someone else help children keep learning.
The curriculum gives educators a framework while allowing them to adapt lessons to individual children. That means supporting each child’s progress at their own pace, with attention to cognitive, physical, language and social-emotional development.
How Will Play Become Learning?
Imagine your preschooler planting a seed. They can count seeds, compare their sizes, predict what might happen and watch for changes as the plant grows. One hands-on experience opens the door to science, math and conversation.
Kiddie Academy’s preschool curriculum includes experiences such as planting, sorting, measuring and making predictions. Educators guide that exploration with questions and encouragement, helping children think through what they notice.
Books will invite participation, too. Retelling a story, joining in a rhyme or explaining what happened first gives children opportunities to practice listening, vocabulary and early literacy. There’s a purpose behind the fun—and room for children’s own ideas.
Will My Child Learn Friendship Skills, Too?
Yes. Learning how to join a game, express a feeling or work through a disagreement is part of early childhood education.
Through Character Essentials®, children will explore positive traits through guided activities and everyday interactions. For preschoolers, that includes practicing cooperation, showing kindness, navigating friendships and growing more independent.
Those small moments matter: offering a friend a turn, asking for help or finding words for frustration. Each gives children another opportunity to practice being part of a community.
How Will Learning Change as My Child Grows?
A two-year-old exploring how objects work needs different experiences from a preschooler beginning to connect letters and sounds.
Kiddie Academy’s early preschool program encourages two-year-olds to investigate, imagine and interact while developing communication and social-emotional skills. As children move into preschool, learning expands to include storytelling, early writing, hands-on STEM and increasingly independent problem-solving. The experiences grow with the child.
