When Should You Start Looking for Child Care in Bel Air-James Run?

If you know your family will need child care, it’s helpful to begin researching several months before your preferred start date. Starting early gives you time to compare programs, ask questions, and understand the enrollment process without feeling rushed.

For families exploring educational child care in Bel Air, Maryland, Kiddie Academy® of Bel Air-James Run is opening soon. Now is a great time to learn about our programs and share what you’re looking for.

Why Start Your Child Care Search Early?

Returning to work, welcoming a baby, or finding a program for a growing preschooler can come with plenty of decisions. Beginning your search ahead of time gives you room to think about what matters most to your family.

Beyond location and hours, consider how your child will spend their day. Will they have opportunities to explore their interests, build friendships, and become more independent? How will educators help them feel comfortable in a new environment?

Starting early also allows you to ask about anticipated availability for your child’s age and your preferred start date. Availability can vary by classroom, so connecting directly with an Academy is the best way to understand your options.

What Questions Should You Ask When Choosing Child Care?

A helpful conversation goes beyond tuition and scheduling. Consider asking:

• What will my child learn? Ask how the program supports language, early math, creativity, physical development, and social skills.

• What does a typical day look like? Learn how activities, meals, rest, and outdoor experiences fit into the daily routine.

• How do educators support new children? Ask how the team helps children build trust and adjust to their surroundings.

• How will we stay connected? Find out how families receive updates and communicate with educators.

• What are the next steps for enrollment? Ask about the process, required paperwork, and how to receive updates about your desired start date.

You don’t need to have every question ready before reaching out. Sharing your child’s age, your timeline, and your priorities is a useful place to begin.

Can You Research an Academy Before It Opens?

Yes. Requesting information before an Academy opens gives you an opportunity to learn about its programs and stay informed as opening preparations progress.

At Kiddie Academy of Bel Air-James Run, we’re preparing to offer educational child care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. Our Life Essentials® approach connects everyday experiences with opportunities to learn, build confidence, and develop relationships.

Reaching out now allows you to introduce your family, ask questions, and receive opening and enrollment updates.

How Can You Help Your Child Prepare for Child Care?

Once you’ve chosen a program and confirmed a start date, small steps can help your child become familiar with the change. Talk positively about their new routine, read stories about starting child care, and share their interests, comfort items, and daily habits with the team.

For younger children, those conversations between families and educators are especially helpful. Knowing how your child communicates, settles for rest, or responds to unfamiliar situations helps the team get to know them.
