Why We Opened a Childcare Center And Why It Means Everything to Us

There’s a moment every parent knows.

You’re standing at the door of a childcare center, your child’s tiny hand in yours. You feel that mix of hope, excitement, and vulnerability that no one really prepares you for. You’re placing your trust in someone else to care for the child/children you love more than anything in the world.

We know that moment. We’ve lived it ourselves (twice). And it’s one of the reasons we opened Kiddie Academy of Briarcliff Manor.

Just over two months ago, we opened our doors to the families of Northern Westchester and the Rivertowns, and we haven’t stopped pinching ourselves since. What began as a dream, and many late-night conversations about the kind of place we wanted for children and families, has become something real! Every day our classrooms are filled with laughter, curiosity, friendships, discoveries, and the joy that comes from watching young children learn and grow.

We didn’t open a childcare center because it was an easy thing to do. Anyone who has walked this path knows it is anything but. We opened it because we care deeply about providing a safe, loving, environment where children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to be themselves. We believe wholeheartedly in the importance of early childhood education and the lasting impact these formative years have on a child’s future. Long before children enter elementary school, they are developing the skills that will shape who they become; confidence, independence, communication, problem-solving, empathy, resilience, and a love of learning. These years matter, and the experiences children have during this time help lay the foundation for everything that follows.

Northern Westchester and the Rivertowns are special places. These communities are built on connection, strong families, and neighbors who support one another. From the beginning, we wanted Kiddie Academy of Briarcliff Manor to reflect those values and feel warm, welcoming, and deeply rooted in the community.

To our founding families: the families who believed in us before the classrooms were full, before we had a single review, and before our story had truly begun…we owe you more gratitude than we can express. You trusted us with your children, and that trust is something we carry with us every single day.

To every family who has joined us since then, thank you! Thank you for welcoming us into your lives and allowing us to be part of your children’s journey. Watching your children grow, make friends, gain confidence, master new skills, and discover the joy of learning is a privilege we never take for granted.

And to our incredible teachers and staff: thank you. You are the heart of this academy. Your patience, dedication, creativity, and love for children are what make this place special.
