Social Skills Grow Here!
Building Connections and Confidence
Communication is a powerful tool that allows your child to express their needs and to be heard. Learning how to communicate effectively with others is a life skill best developed in a social setting.
Talking to a friend or asking a question in class are learned behaviors, and we provide children with numerous opportunities to practice them every day. In fact, many parents are amazed at the significant improvement in their child’s vocabulary skills after enrolling at Kiddie Academy of Chesterfield.
Our teachers narrate everything they do throughout the day to introduce new language skills. For example, we may link the idea of feeling satisfied with a meal by discussing how food provides energy or asking kids to describe what hunger feels like. We also model and encourage nonverbal communication skills, such as making eye contact and actively listening.
An added benefit of learning how to communicate with others in a group is the boost in self-confidence it provides. Contributing to a conversation, being respected, and being listened to are all wonderful experiences that increase your child’s self-esteem.
Guided by a well-rounded philosophy and curriculum, Kiddie Academy of Chesterfield’s highly trained teachers help nurture what’s unique in every child—fostering imagination, encouraging creativity, and preparing them for school.
