Meet the Owner

Miss Carin

“Miss Carin” Andersen Perino founded her first Kiddie Academy in 1994 in nearby St. James. At that time she was a Human Resources Professional for BioMedical Imaging Companies on Long Island for over 10 years. When her daughter Deana was born in 1992, she became acutely aware of the lack of high quality child care options for families. She decided to investigate child care opportunities and chose Kiddie Academy because of the founder’s vision and dedication to children and early childhood education. “Miss Carin’s” beloved East Setauket Kiddie Academy was planned, designed, and built specifically for this purpose and opened its doors in September 2000. Miss Carin, who is affectionately called “coco” by many of the students, has dedicated the past 30 years of her life to children. She often says her life’s passion is children, “crib to college”, as she served in many leadership positions including being an elected Board of Education trustee in her hometown of Kings Park. Miss Carin’s own children both went through Kiddie Academy. Deana is now 32 and her son, Travis is 28. Miss Carin enjoys all of her “Kiddie Kids” and loves to spend time in the classrooms and interacting with the children, as they keep her young and fun!
