Creativity, Culture and Community Come Together at the 10th Annual Children’s Art Show & Charity Auction

On Saturday, August 15, Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg welcomed families, community members, and local businesses for the 10th Annual Children’s Art Show & Charity Auction, a special milestone event celebrating a decade of creativity and giving back.

For one afternoon, the academy transformed into a gallery filled with artwork created by every enrolled child, from infants through school age. Each classroom contributed its own collection of projects, giving families an opportunity to see their children’s creativity displayed in a new way and experience how learning can extend beyond the classroom.

The event also celebrated the cultures represented within the Kiddie Academy community. Families shared aspects of their heritage and traditions through cultural displays, creating an opportunity for children and adults alike to learn more about the people and cultures that make up their community.

While the artwork was the centerpiece of the event, the Children’s Art Show has always been about something bigger than displaying children’s creations. Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg began the annual tradition with the goal of helping children understand that they can use their creativity and actions to make a difference in the lives of others.

Over the past 10 years, the event has introduced children and families to nonprofit organizations and community causes while raising approximately $10,000 to support organizations making a difference in the community.

This year’s beneficiary was the Chesapeake Bay Trust, an organization dedicated to empowering people to protect and restore local watersheds through education, community engagement, and restoration initiatives.

The connection between children, creativity, and environmental stewardship made this year’s partnership particularly meaningful. As Chesapeake Bay Trust President Dr. Jana Davis shared, inspiring children to care about nature from an early age can help build the next generation of environmental stewards.

The Children’s Art Show & Charity Auction also brought local businesses into the celebration. Community businesses donated prizes for the silent auction, giving families and attendees another way to participate while supporting the fundraiser.

During the event, Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg raised $3,246, surpassing its original $3,000 fundraising goal. An additional $1,000 is expected from silent auction proceeds, which will be added to the event total once collected.

The generosity surrounding the event demonstrated how a children’s learning experience can become a community-wide effort. Families, educators, local businesses, and nonprofit partners all played a role in making the 10th anniversary celebration possible.

For Franchise Owner Namita Shah, the Children’s Art Show represents an important part of the academy’s identity.

That lesson has remained at the heart of the event for a decade. Each year, children have the opportunity to see that their creativity can serve a purpose—and that giving back can begin with something as simple as sharing something they have created.

As Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg celebrates its 10th annual event, the Children’s Art Show & Charity Auction continues to bring together creativity, cultural appreciation, and community service, creating an experience where children can see themselves as active members of their community.

And after 10 years, the gallery may close at the end of the afternoon, but the lesson remains: even small acts of creativity and kindness can make a lasting difference.
