Last week (September 24th, 2026) was a special one at Kiddie Academy of McKinney. We celebrated our FESTEMBER Multicultural Event, and we were so happy to see how many of our families participated.

When we first planned this event, the idea was simple. We wanted our kids to learn about different parts of the world, but we didn’t want them to learn only from pictures or books. We wanted them to actually see and experience some of these things.

Our parents and teachers made that possible.

Families brought currencies from different countrie,, traditional clothing, cultural items and, of course, lots of traditional food! Some of the items had personal stories behind them, which made them even more interesting for the children.

The kids were curious about everything.

They looked at money from different countries and noticed that it didn’t look like the dollars they normally see. They checked out stamps, asked questions about different items and got to see their friends wearing beautiful traditional outfits.

And there was plenty of food to try too!

Our Families Made the Event Special

The best part for us was seeing our families participate.

We know everyone is busy with work, kids and everyday life, so we really appreciate the parents who took time to find something from home, prepare food, dress up their children or stop by during pickup to participate.

Seeing parents, teachers and children talking together about different cultures was exactly what we hoped this event would become.

For some children, it was an opportunity to show something from their own family’s culture. For others, it was their first time seeing something from another part of the world.

Either way, they were learning without it feeling like a lesson.

Learning Doesn’t Always Have to Happen Sitting at a Table

This is something we strongly believe at Kiddie Academy of McKinney.

Children learn in many different ways.

Sometimes it is through our curriculum. Sometimes it happens while playing outside, doing a science experiment, participating in music, sports or chess, or simply asking a teacher, “What is this?”

FESTEMBER gave us another opportunity to create that kind of learning.

Instead of showing children a picture of another country’s currency, they could actually hold it and look at it. Instead of only talking about traditional clothing, they saw their friends wearing it. Instead of just discussing different foods, they could see and experience them.

Those little experiences can create a lot of curiosity.

We also want to say a big thank you to our teachers and staff.

There is always a lot happening behind the scenes for an event like this—decorating, organizing items, helping children, talking about different cultures and making sure the day still runs smoothly.

Our teachers did an amazing job turning the event into something the children could enjoy and learn from.

This Is Our Community

At the end of the day, FESTEMBER wasn’t about how many countries we represented or how many items we collected.

It was about our community.

Parents shared. Teachers helped. Kids asked questions. Everyone learned something.

And we had a lot of fun doing it.

That is what made the day special.

Thank you to every family, teacher and staff member who participated and helped us create another wonderful memory for our children.

We are already looking forward to doing it again next year!
