What Does a Typical Day Look Like at Kiddie Academy of Millersville?

A Day Designed for Learning and Fun

One of the most common questions parents ask during a tour is: what does a typical day look like? At Kiddie Academy of Millersville, every day is thoughtfully structured to balance learning, play, meals, rest, and outdoor time — all guided by our Life Essentials® curriculum. Here is a glimpse into what your child’s day looks like with us.

Morning: Arrival and Circle Time

The day begins with a warm welcome from our educators. After drop-off, children settle into their classrooms with free-play activities before gathering for morning circle time. Circle time includes songs, stories, calendar activities, and an introduction to the day’s learning theme. For infants, mornings focus on feeding, sensory exploration, and one-on-one interaction with caregivers.

Mid-Morning: Structured Learning Activities

Each classroom follows age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with our curriculum. Toddlers might explore a sensory bin, practice colors and shapes, or work on early literacy through interactive storytime. Preschoolers engage in more complex activities like letter recognition, counting exercises, and science experiments. Every activity is designed to be hands-on and engaging.

Lunch and Rest Time

A nutritious lunch is served mid-day, followed by rest or quiet time. Infants nap on their own schedules throughout the day. Toddlers and preschoolers have a designated rest period with soft lighting, gentle music, and cozy cots. Rest is essential for growing bodies and developing brains.

Afternoon: Outdoor Play and Enrichment

Afternoons include outdoor playground time for gross motor development and fresh air. Children also participate in enrichment activities like art projects, music and movement, and dramatic play. The afternoon wraps up with a snack and free-play time as parents arrive for pickup.
