A new educational child care center in Windsor is now enrolling children for a summer camp program for ages 2 to 12.

Kiddie Academy opened its doors in late April at 4701 Oakmont St. in Windsor to serve northern Colorado children. The Windsor location became the first Kiddie Academy to come to the region, according to Sarah Hartley, director of community impact at Kiddie Academy of Windsor.

Since 1981, Kiddie Academy has opened up educational child care centers across the nation. The Windsor academy will teach more than 170 children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old through programming that utilizes technology education, state-of-the-art amenities and a curriculum called Life Essentials.

Many families enrolled in Kiddie Academy come from Windsor, Severance, Greeley, Loveland and Fort Collins, Hartley said. Along with offering full-time and part-time care year-round, Kiddie Academy just began its summer camp, CampVentures.

CampVentures promises the adventure of a lifetime to four different age groups, split between ages 2 to 12. The camp features hands-on learning, themed weeks and “in-house field trips” with local partners.

Instead of the children going on field trips, Kiddie Academy brings the field trips to the children since they can’t leave the campus, according to Hartley. Local partners will bring everything from live animals to dance lessons to the academy.

Partners include Raintree Animal Hospital, Boss Comics, Ripple Effect Martial Arts, the Forest Service and more.

The in-house field trips will also match the theme of the week, which includes a weekly dress-up day. In early July, Wildlife Habitat and Soil Scientist will provide the in-house field trips and children can participate in an “Earth Dress Up Day.”

Every Wednesday, weather permitting, children will go outside and participate in different activities for “Water Wednesdays.” To end the week, the Kiddie Academy team invites families into the academy to discover what their kids learned throughout the week.

The entertaining and engaging activities all connect back to the Life Essentials curriculum that emphasizes character essentials each month. The child care center’s programming also features 3D printing, robotics and additional educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math.

CampVentures is Monday through Friday until Aug. 16. Snacks and lunch are provided daily. Families can have their children stay for the full day of summer camp or pick them up and drop them off at any time.

The Kiddie Academy will host a Grand Opening Hoedown from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 27 and invites the community to dress in Western attire for a day of entertainment, activities, food and community resources.
