Bringing Maryland Blooms Indoors with New Nursing Room Mural

Visitors to the Market Hall at Clarksburg Premium Outlets will now find a brighter, more welcoming space thanks to a new mural painted with the help of educators from Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg and Kiddie Academy of Urbana. The teams partnered with the outlets to refresh the nursing room, creating a calming, family-friendly environment rooted in nature and community care.
The mural celebrates the beauty of Maryland by featuring flowers native to the state, including Black-Eyed Susans, Wild Bergamot, Rose mallow, Turk’s Cap Lily, Blackwood Aster, American Water Lily and Cardinal flowers. These gentle, flowing landscapes were intentionally designed to make caregivers feel at ease, offering a peaceful backdrop for feeding, resting or taking a quiet moment with their little ones.
This project gave educators from both academies an opportunity to extend their values of connection, creativity and responsibility beyond the classroom. Working together, they helped bring each bloom to life, layering colors, adding details and ensuring the artwork reflected the warmth that families experience inside their academies every day.
Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg and Kiddie Academy of Urbana are proud to support a community space devoted to families. The updated nursing room now serves as a small but meaningful reminder of how thoughtful environments can enrich everyday moments for children and the adults who care for them.
