White Plains K9 Unit Visits Preschool to Teach Children About Community Safety

This fall, our Kiddie Academy of White Plains had the exciting opportunity to welcome members of the White Plains Police Department K9 Unit to our program. Officers and their highly trained police dogs spent time with our students, giving them a firsthand look at the important role K9 teams play in keeping our community safe.

During the visit, children learned how police dogs help officers in many different situations — from searching for missing people and assisting during emergencies to using their strong sense of smell to help solve cases. The K9 officers also demonstrated how they communicate and work as a team, showing the care, training, and trust required in their daily jobs.

Our students were especially thrilled to meet the dogs up close. They had the chance to ask questions, watch demonstrations, and learn about how even very friendly animals can have very important jobs helping people.

We are grateful to the White Plains K9 Unit for taking the time to visit and for the essential work they do each day to protect our community. This experience reinforced our lessons on safety, kindness, and respect for community helpers — and left our children feeling inspired and excited to learn more.

Thank you to the officers and their K9 partners for an unforgettable day!
