Each year, the American Public Health Association (APHA) brings together communities across the United States to observe National Public Health Week. This year, the APHA reserved April 7-13 as the dedicated week to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight ways to improve health across the nation.
As National Public Health Week comes to a close, we wanted to take an opportunity to share some of the ways Kiddie Academy® focuses on health in hopes of offering some inspiration. Remember, prioritizing health can (and should) be done year-round – not just during the first full week of April.
- Kiddie Academy organizes a team walk for its corporate employees every year as an opportunity to get outside and connect with nature. Employees are given the option to spend the second half of their day hiking a local trail, followed by a team meet up at a local brewery. This year, our team walk will take place in May to take advantage of the good weather and extend our focus on health beyond National Public Health Week.
- Another health initiative Kiddie Academy implements is the Annual Cross-Country Challenge. Throughout the month of April, corporate employees submit their daily steps for the chance to win a prize. In 2024, the Kiddie Academy community completed nearly 6,000,000 steps – the equivalent of walking from Maryland to the California Coast.
Kiddie Academy locations across the country also implement our Health Essentials guidelines. To keep public health top of mind all year long, Health Essentials includes things like wellness education, enhanced hygiene protocols, and tips on how to maintain a healthy environment. We invite you to find unique ways to incorporate health and wellness this season.
