At Kiddie Academy®, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported and seen –especially during life’s most challenging moments. That belief inspired our new initiative with Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, highlighted by a $100,000 donation to help bring comfort and emotional support to children receiving care at the hospital.
Providing Care When It Matters Most
For many families, a visit to the hospital can be filled with uncertainty. Children encounter new faces, unfamiliar equipment, and experiences they may not fully understand. In these moments, the presence of someone who can offer reassurance, preparation, and a sense of control can make all the difference.
Our support will help strengthen the hospital’s Child Life program, a team dedicated to easing fear, building trust and helping young patients navigate their care with confidence. Whether through therapeutic play, emotional support, or simply offering a calm voice during a stressful moment, Child Life specialists help transform what could be a frightening experience into one that feels manageable, even empowering.
Supporting Families Every Step of the Way
“Johns Hopkins Children’s Center provides compassionate care not just to children, but to the families who love them,” said Casey Miller, CEO of Kiddie Academy. “If our partnership can help even one child feel braver, or help one parent feel less alone, then we’re making a meaningful difference. Supporting this work is an extension of who we are: a community that believes in nurturing children wherever they are.”
Patrice Brylske, director of child life services at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, shared how impactful this support will be: “Thanks to this generosity from Kiddie Academy, we can continue providing the kind of preparation and comfort that helps children face difficult procedures with courage. This partnership strengthens our ability to create positive experiences and better outcomes for the families in our care.”
A Legacy of Giving Back
This sponsorship builds on our long‑standing commitment to giving back. In the past year alone, our corporate team donated hundreds of volunteer hours and contributed to organizations supporting families, the environment and local communities.
Recently, our team had the opportunity to bring moments of joy directly to the hospital. During the Reverse Trick‑or‑Treat event on October 31, volunteers delivered treats and costumes to pediatric patients, sharing smiles, encouragement and a bit of Halloween fun. And during the holiday season, we supported the Snowflake Station, helping create a festive space where families could choose gifts for their children and experience a touch of holiday magic.
As we look ahead, we’re honored to stand alongside Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in creating moments of comfort and connection for children when they need it most. Because when a child feels supported, they can be brave, and that bravery can change everything.
