Role models come into young people’s lives in a variety of ways. They are educators, civic leaders, mothers, fathers, clergy, peers, and ordinary people encountered in everyday life. Role models can inspire young people to develop the skills, abilities, and motivation they need to become engaged citizens. A true role model is not necessarily the person with the best job title, the most responsibility, or the greatest fame.
Children admire people who act in ways that support their beliefs. It helps them understand how their own values are part of who they are and how they might seek fulfilling roles as adults.
Kiddie Academy’s “Amazing Starts Here” campaign features children imagining themselves as some of the greatest thinkers and leaders of our time, like Albert Einstein and Abraham Lincoln: two positive role models who showcase valuable characteristics like honesty, creativity, responsibility and leadership.
Who are the modern-day role models that help your child form the vision for their future? In honor of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, today’s #29DaysofEssentials to-do is to tell us about the people who are role models in your child’s life. Answer the survey here:
