Celebrated the first full week of May (May 4-8), National Teacher Appreciation Week is a time to recognize the educators who dedicate their lives to supporting children through critical stages of growth and development.
This year, we invite you to explore fun, creative ways to help your little ones show their appreciation for their teachers.
Garden of Appreciation
Together with your child, take a walk outside and collect wildflowers that you find on the way. Glue the flowers to a piece of construction paper and have your child either write or dictate a kind word or memory that they associate with their educator, creating a vibrant collage.
Gratitude Mailbox
Invite your child to decorate an old shoe or cereal box using whatever art supplies you already have at home. Then, have them write or dictate simple “thank you” notes that their teacher can open each day of Teacher Appreciation Week. This is also a great way for parents to get involved and show their appreciation by contributing a few of their own notes.
Handprint Heart Poster
Using paint, have your child cover a poster board in “handprint hearts,” including a meaningful message in the center, such as “Thank You for Helping me Grow!”
Today and every day, we celebrate the educators who play a crucial role in our children’s lives. From introducing foundational skills that prepare children for the future to creating a safe, caring space and so much more, teachers truly go above and beyond.
