Read Across America helps children experience the joy of reading and get excited about high quality, diverse literature in which they can see themselves reflected in the stories.
About Read Across America
Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA) and guided by a committee of educators, NEA’s Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. It focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources that are about everyone, for everyone.
“Reading is such an important part of children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development,” said Joy Turner, Vice President of Education at Kiddie Academy®. “It helps expand their vocabulary, develop listening skills, and introduce complex language structures. It also stimulates imagination, critical thinking, and helps children understand cause and effect.”
