Community EssentialsSM: Extending our Life Essentials curriculum beyond the classroom.
Community Essentials is how we put corporate social responsibility into action at Kiddie Academy. It’s defined by the way we treat each other in every setting and situation, the examples we set for the children in our care and the respect we pay to the environment our children are inheriting. We find developmentally appropriate ways to bring Community Essentials to life in and outside of our classrooms, engaging teachers, parents, and the community at large along the way.
As part of our corporate social responsibility efforts, we forged a partnership with national nonprofit Family Promise. Working together with Family Promise is just one of the ways we bring Community Essentials to life.
Family Promise shares our commitment to improve communities and build brighter futures for children. That’s why we’ve partnered with the nonprofit to empower families experiencing homelessness and set children up for success.
Together with Family Promise, we work to create fundraising and volunteerism opportunities that provide meaningful and inspiring experiences for both donors and recipients. Using an education-based approach, Family Promise affiliates, the Kiddie Academy franchise system, and our corporate office work in tandem to address housing and income inequalities that affect individual communities uniquely across the country.
In times of emergency and hardship, our Kiddie Academy community comes together in incredible ways. Through philanthropic support, we’re able to raise up community members in need. Our disaster relief efforts are rooted in the belief that supporting one another when we are most vulnerable allows us to reach new heights together as we grow. Through philanthropy, we’re able to provide grants to team members in need to help them through life’s challenging moments.
The Kiddie Academy Community Fund helped me and my family get through my COVID-19 recovery. It meant so much to me that the company cares about their employees. The grant helped me with my bills and hospital bills I received during COVID-19. It’s unfortunate that things turned out this way, but I can truly say “I BEAT COVID.” I am thankful for my life and so appreciative of Kiddie Academy. Thank you!

Receiving support from the fund was great news and a huge blessing after the winter storms here in Texas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is CSR?
Corporate social responsibility (CSR), or corporate citizenship, is a business concept wherein companies consciously aim to have a positive economic, social, and environmental impact on society.
What is the program’s commitment?
Community Essentials is committed to empowering children and families for a brighter future.
What are the program’s core beliefs?
We are always learning, collaborating, and seeking collective progress.
We hold the power to shape our environments into positive communities that support healthy, productive families.
We can share meaningful experiences and grow together by helping others and protecting our natural resources.
How are you measuring your impact?
Each of our individual CSR efforts have specific metrics to help us gauge the impact we’re having. For our fundraising efforts, we look at how much we’ve raised. For our disaster relief and emergency assistance, we look at how many individuals we were able to support. We’re carefully considering performance indicators for each initiative while keeping a pulse on the landscape in general.
How do you decide how you’ll focus resources?
We aim to support those initiatives near and dear to the hearts of our community members. Our CSR team uses surveys, one-on-one conversations, and committee meetings to find out what’s important to our community. There are many worthy causes and limited resources, so we’re always evaluating how we can make the biggest impact.
How are you integrating CSR into your curriculum?
Character education matters. At Kiddie Academy® Educational Child Care, character education is one of our fundamental principles and we believe it should begin with our youngest learners. Our Character Essentials curriculum teaches common values and character traits to children with the intention of helping them develop into moral, caring and responsible citizens.
