Our Purpose

At Kiddie Academy^®, our commitment to children extends far beyond the classroom. We believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and truly seen – especially during life’s most difficult moments. That commitment guides us to support children and families wherever care and compassion are needed most.

For many families, a hospital visit brings uncertainty and fear. Children are suddenly surrounded by unfamiliar faces, complex equipment, and experiences they may not fully understand. In these moments, comfort matters; and having a trusted presence who can offer reassurance, clarity, and a sense of control can change everything. The Child Life program at JHCC reflects our belief that nurturing a child’s emotional well-being is just as important as caring for their physical health – and that compassion can be a powerful source of strength.

The mission of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center is to provide patient- and family-centered care in a diverse and inclusive environment, to be a leader in innovative research that leads to prevention and effective treatment of childhood diseases, and to train the next generation of leaders in pediatric medicine.

By promoting a culture of patient- and family-centered care at the Children’s Center, and by providing resources and guidance to strengthen collaboration, communication and mutual respect between the health care team, patients and their families, the members of the Family Advisory Council believe the highest quality outcomes possible can be achieved.
