COVID Vaccine Now Available to WA Child Care Educators
March 9, 2021
This past week marked a milestone in the fight against COVID. On Tuesday March 2, 2021, child care teachers became immediately eligible to receive the COVID vaccine due to a federal mandate. Because of this mandate, Washington State reprioritized vaccine access for teachers.
The response from the teachers at Kiddie Academy of Vancouver – Salmon Creek has been nothing short of amazing. Over 85% of the Kiddie Academy staff has either booked a confirmed appointment OR had their first vaccine shot. Teachers were able to activate quickly thanks to an incredible partnership with Legacy Hospital Salmon Creek. As a result, Kiddie Academy of Vancouver – Salmon Creek is emerging as a child care leader in terms of health and safety for Clark County.
In an effort to maintain a healthy workforce and promote wellness amongst young children, the COVID vaccine will ultimately become a condition of employment for all Kiddie Academy of Vancouver – Salmon Creek teachers (consistent with EEOC Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidelines).
As the fight against COVID rages on, Kiddie Academy of Vancouver – Salmon Creek continues to implement proactive safety practices through its Health Essentials® wellness program (enhanced cleaning, classroom pods, temp checks, 15 minute limits, etc.). To learn more, please call 360.355.3133.
