  Austin S., Co-Director

  Austin Silavong graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Science in Cellular-Molecular biology with a background in chemistry, dance, and child development. Mr. Silavong have been working children for the past 8 years and has always enjoyed working with children because he hopes to create a positive, nurturing, and engaging experience for most of their interactions with the world . His beliefs in early childhood are that children are active, self-motivated learners, and their development is fostered through intimate, stable relationships with caregivers and a secure, appropriate and challenging environment. As an educator and leader, he would like to utilize his background in science, dance, and early childhood and implement that in the program where it can provide parents with support, education, and desired referrals to meet their family needs, support, and challenge each child's growth in all areas recognizing each child's uniqueness and individual timetable, and ultimately provide a program that reflects the lives of the children and families as well as the diversity found in society.

  As a young girl my grandmother instilled a valve and love for education. It was through her that I learned that education was the "key to open all doors." I am an active learner with 15 years of Early Childhood experience and 5 years of Administrative experience. I have earned my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Master's degree in Education leadership at St. John's University with a 3.9 GPA. Currently, I am a full time student pursuing another Masters degree in special education. There wil always be a demand for educators to be accountable and intentional in practices. In my early childhood practices, I have learned how to observe students and teachers while using assessment tools and feedback loops to drive instruction. Through active engagement, the use of differentiated learning instructions, and my leadership abilities I have benefited both teachers and students. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling the world and learning about new cultures and traditions. I also enjoy spending time with my two adorable grandchildren. I look forward to vacationing with them and exploring the world through their eyes. It is my pleasure to lead Kiddie Academy and I look forward to an amazing journey.

  This childcare center was born out of desperate father looking for a way to spend more time with his children.  Like many new Yorkers, my wife and I both had great careers with a bright outlook.  We both enjoyed living in Brooklyn as it was a vibrant neighborhood with great restaurants and culture, not to mention the great commute to Manhattan where we both worked.  Then we had the amazing experience of welcoming our first born into the world.  Like most new parents, we went out to seek quality child care immediately.  We were looking for constant updates, caring staff, keeping track of how she was doing and would want to be there for her first moments.  However, there wasn’t one to be found in the area. We just couldn’t find a place where we felt comfortable leaving her for 10 hours a day. That was the moment that I knew something needed to be changed, regardless how much I valued my career.  It became clear that I had to provide high quality childcare. What this meant to me was a warm and inviting environment where highly qualified teaching staff are passionate about children and truly care about their needs, their happiness, and their growth.  I knew that creating this was not only important for me and my family, but for so many working families out there. I have a special connection to Williamsburg as my wife and I had our first child in this area.  Through many friends, I come to realized that this area is truly in need of a high quality, trust worthy, and passionate center.   I wanted to serve the neighborhood that we have seen transformed in the past few years, grow with it, and be a value to add to the community.      I am honored to finally be able to open our doors to you and your children. Thank you for trusting us with your babies.
