Kiddie Academy of South Reno Raises $2,200 for Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation

The Kiddie Academy of South Reno held its second annual silent auction fundraiser benefiting the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, bringing the total level of support to $2,200 in just two years.

The auction featured art pieces created by the children in the Academy’s classrooms, as well as donations from parents and teachers. The children had been studying art and music in class as part of the Kiddie Academy brand’s robust Life Essentials curriculum. Character education lessons, focused on teaching children about important life skills such as courage, responsibility, and charity, were also intertwined in the exciting learning going on. The students were encouraged to explore different art techniques and styles, and their creativity was on full display.

“We used the silent auction and our support of Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation to engage in age-appropriate conversations about strength and charity with the children,” shared Lyra Bach, Director of Kiddie Academy of South Reno. “We talked about the bravery it takes to navigate an illness, and how children, families and communities come together to fight adversity together during difficult times.”

The auction was open to the entire community, and parents invited their extended networks to support the cause, getting grandparents, family, and friends in on the fundraising. The bidding was fierce, and art pieces made it as far as California by the end of the effort.

In addition to raising money for a worthy cause, the auction also helped to build a sense of community among the Academy’s families. The children were proud to see their art displayed and sold, and the parents were grateful for the opportunity to support a local organization that is making a difference in the lives of children with cancer.

“We are so grateful to the families, teachers, and the greater community who came together to support this fundraiser,” said Bach. “These funds will make a real difference in the lives of children with cancer.”

The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and support to families of children with cancer. The foundation also funds research into childhood cancer and works to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and their families. The Academy recently had the opportunity to tour the Foundation’s facilities and present the organization with this year’s funds.

Kiddie Academy of South Reno is committed to providing high-quality education and care for all children, and it is proud to support organizations that make a difference in the community.

“Reno is a small community, but it is a tight knit one. The families, teachers, and staff are all committed to helping others, and they are always looking for ways to give back to the community,” shared Franchisee Andrew Sizelove. “Our silent auction was just one example of their generosity and compassion.”
