Dallas-Fort Worth: Everything’s Big in Texas

The Educational Child Care Industry

You’ve heard it before – everything’s big in Texas. It’s especially true when it comes to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The 9,286 square miles it covers is larger than the states of Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island combined. The Metroplex is the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States, with a population of 7.4 million people, 1 million of whom have moved to the area since 2010. [1] [2]

“With more than 75 companies relocating their headquarters to the DFW area in the past seven years, growth in housing and families moving to the area have fueled the need for high quality child care,” said Jeff Brazier, Kiddie Academy’s Vice President of Franchise Development. “It’s a trend we see continuing for the foreseeable future, as more companies are looking to relocate to Dallas with its large employment base.”

That employment base is getting bigger every day, driving what is one of the top economies in the country. In 2018, Dallas-Fort Worth led the nation in job growth, adding 116,400 jobs. In the first quarter of 2019, unemployment fell to an 18-year low. [3]

The DFW economy is very diversified, with trade, transportation and utilities driving the most growth. Other top industries in the area include healthcare, construction, oil, science and technology services. [4]

Brazier says Kiddie Academy already has great brand presence in DFW and sees it only getting stronger. “We have seven locations open currently in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and there’s still plenty of room to grow with new franchises. We’re looking to double our number in the market over the next two to four years based on our current development pipeline.”
