5 Healthy Habits for a Healthy Future
May 3, 2018
As parents, we want our little ones to have long healthy lives, shaping their future from the moment they’re born. In addition to unconditional love, we help build healthy habits as their brains and bodies develop by teaching them to make smart choices in nutrition and exercise.
We are your partner in parenting by helping promote healthy choices for even the youngest children in our care, integrating these actions into every aspect of your child’s day at Kiddie Academy. From staying active to appropriate food choices and maintaining healthy personal habits, we focus on making good choices that can impact them for life.
Healthy Habits Established Early Last a Lifetime!
Healthy Kids, Healthy Future is a national program we endorse with guidelines for our staff, and recommend parents practice at home. Making the right choices now can help ensure your child has a truly healthy future!
We focus on five goals that will serve our little ones well–because healthy children are happy children.
Increase physical activity
Rain or shine, create opportunities to exercise and play indoors and outdoors all day, every day.

Reduce screen time
Technology can act as a powerful teaching tool. While we leverage technology to enhance our curriculum, we also encourage parents to manage and limit their child’s daily screen time. For children age 2 and older, strive to limit screen time to no more than 1-2 hours of quality screen time per day. No screen time is recommended for children under 2 years.
Improve food choices
Serve fruits or vegetables at every meal. Try to eat in a family-style setting whenever possible.
Plenty of water and other healthy drinks keep active kids hydrated. Water is key, but milk and limited 100% fruit juice are also healthy beverage options.
Early nutrition is critical – whether it’s breast milk or formula, help support new parents’ decisions about infant feeding.
